On May 22, 2013, the Military Spouse JD Network (MSJDN) will host Making the Right Moves: Celebration and Education for Military Spouse Attorneys. The event, organized by MSJDN and sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, will feature activities designed to educate, celebrate and connect military spouse attorneys while also providing a forum for spouses to network with the D.C. legal and business community.
The day will include three components designed to enrich and support MSJDN’s amazing members. A specialized training designed by the Lawyer Re-Entry Program from American University Washington College of Law will orient attendees on how to make their legal career and military lifestyle compatible. Maj. Gen. William Suter (Ret), Clerk of the U.S. Supreme Court, will deliver a keynote at the awards luncheon celebrating the military lifestyle and honoring two MSJDN members for their service to the profession and the community. (Nominate a member.) The day will end with a networking reception at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
“The military lifestyle should not be incompatible with a successful legal career,” said MSJDN Board Member and event coordinator Stephanie Crosse. “In addition to offering strategies for professional growth and advancement, the event will provide unique networking opportunities beneficial to military spouse attorneys at every stage in their career.”

The Military Spouse JD Network was founded by two military spouses in 2011 and has grown to over 700 members across the globe. Unemployment for military spouses regularly outpaces the national average; military spouse attorneys face additional barriers due to the unique licensing requirements of state bar associations. MSJDN works to remove these barriers and to connect military spouse attorneys. For more information, please visit www.msjdn.org.
