On February 23, Military Spouse JD Network (MSJDN) will be having a brunch at the iconic Austin Club in Austin, Texas. The event, called Deep in the Heart of Texas, is being held to celebrate a year of Texas Bench, Bar, and BLE support for military spouse attorneys.
The Austin Club is a very exclusive venue housed within the graceful Millett Opera House, a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. The impressive structure was built by city father Captain Charles F. Millett in 1878, designed by leading architect Frederick E. Ruffini.
In the late 1800’s, Austin made the building the social center of the city. The two-foot thick limestone walls have stood strong through the centuries, witnessing much revelry and history in their time. Many famous performers have graced the stage, including Williams Jennings Bryan, John Phillip Sousa, Lily Langtry, Joseph Jefferson, and John Wilkes Booth’s brother, Edwin.
The Opera House has had programs ranging from opera to legislative sessions to church services to political conventions — and now, an MSJDN event. We are pleased to be able to offer the unique experience of an occasion at this members-only, prestigious club — the oldest in downtown Austin.
Tickets for the once-in-a-lifetime event can be purchased here.
