The Military Spouse JD Foundation was formed as a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity to house MSJDN’s pro bono and education programs. This year, 2014-2015, MSJDN is pleased to announce the Foundation’s inaugural Board of Directors. The Foundation’s Board will work closely with MSJDN’s own Board of Directors in overseeing the work of both entities. With that, MSJDN is pleased to introduce the Foundation’s Board of Directors:
Board Co-Chair–Mary Reding
Mary Reding is the immediate past President of, and co-founder of, the Military Spouse JD Network. She is an Air Force spouse, member of the California Bar, and mother of two. Since marrying her pilot husband, she has lived in seven houses, three countries, and two states. Mary serves as a Senior Advisor at US Executive Councils – Chief Financial Officer Council.
Board Co-Chair–Josie Beets
Josie Beets is passionate about supporting underserved communities, grassroots organizing, and public service. She currently serves as Public Policy Coordinator for the Tennessee Bar Association, managing development of legislation and public policy positions affecting law and the legal profession. She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, American Bar Association, National Association of Bar Executives, Women’s Bar Association of DC, and an attorney member of the National Association of Women Judges. She is married to an Army Officer stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and is mom to two energetic children. Josie also serves on the MSJDN Board.
Board Member–Tara Gaston
Tara N. Gaston is a 2010 graduate of California Western School of Law in San Diego, CA. Her primary practice areas are medical malpractice, human rights, and health law, with particular interests in shared decision-making and ethical and legal conflicts in maternity care. She is currently completing her Master’s of Public Health from the Gillings School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, although she currently resides outside of Seattle, WA. Tara is admitted to the New York State Bar, and is awaiting finalization of her admission to the Washington State Bar.
Board Member–Erin Hennessy
Erin Hennessy is a proud Army wife and an intellectual property partner at Bracewell & Giuliani’s. Erin works in the firm’s Technology Group, and her practice focuses on trademark law, copyright law, and internet and social media issues with an emphasis on the media and telecommunications industries. Having served as a former chief trademark counsel in-house, she brings an innate business sense and first-hand insights to her practice. Erin also serves on the board of Military Spouse JD Network.
