Governance Committee
Memory Roque - Chair
The purpose of the Governance Committee is to ensure the proper function of the Network and Foundation including maintaining the orgs registrations with the state of Virginia, mandatory state and federal non-profit filings as well as international review and proposed amendments to internal documents like the bylaw, policies and procedures. The committee meets about once monthly and volunteers contribute approximately 2-3 hours per month.
Memory Roque is a graduate of Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law (LL.M. summa cum laude), Temple University Beasley School of Law (J.D.), and Occidental College (B.A.). She is the 2018 Recipient of Legal Assistance for Military Personnel Distinguished Service Award (LAMP) for work at the 2d Bomb Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, LA. Recognized for setting the standard for military legal assistance across the United States Air Force (USAF), Memory was the number one select out of approximately 3,000 attorneys comprised of all USAF judge advocates (JAGs) and USAF government civilian attorneys. Her experience includes but is not limited to, work in big law, as a solo, and in various levels of gov’t. She is admitted in New York and Missouri and the proud spouse of an active-duty service member (USAF).
Jennifer Brantley - Governance-Elect
Jennifer N. Brantley is an attorney, strategist, and proud military spouse whose work sits at the intersection of law, governance, and strategic communications.
She previously served as Chief of General Law at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, where she advised senior leaders on ethics, contracting, environmental, and real property matters.
Her career also includes legal and acquisition roles with the United States Air Force, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and public sector agencies in California and Nebraska, as well as experience advising organizations and entrepreneurs on legal and communications strategy.
Jennifer is passionate about expanding professional opportunities and strengthening community for military spouse attorneys. She is admitted to practice law in Georgia and Texas and recently launched J Brantley Law, a solo practice aimed at helping business owners and professionals build businesses that last.
Accomplishments
The Committee has recently completed a full review of the organization bylaws and has made suggested amendments which will be voted on by the incoming Board.
Goals/Projects
Going forward, the Committee will be working on the orgs charitable solicitation registrations in various states as well as continuing its review of the internal governance documents.
