Membership Committee
D. Norra Pe Benito - Chair
The Membership Committee supports member-centered programs and does membership outreach and development, including overseeing the dues process and welcoming new members. Volunteers manage the awards, mentoring, and webinar programs, oversee the annual survey, and much more.
D. Norra Pe Benito is an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois. Her practice areas include ERISA – employee benefits, QDROs, and government and military benefits. She began her legal career in Nashville, Tennessee where she served as paralegal for a private firm practicing insurance subrogation and contract breach litigation. Additionally, she served as the firm’s office manager to develop the firm’s standard operating procedures. Norra graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a major in political science and minor in finance. She received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. In 2019, she studied cross-cultural mediation and negotiations and Chinese legal systems for a semester at Zhejiang University Guanghua College of Law in Hangzhou, China. During law school, she focused her education on employment law, legal writing and research, and negotiation strategy and theory. She led her peers as President of the Women’s Law Association, President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society and served as Senior Editor of the Thomas Jefferson Law Review Journal. Norra currently resides in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia with her family and their 4-year old German Shepherd, Leia. She identifies as a Swiftie. She visited 15 national parks so far and plans to visit them all when her husband retires from the Navy in a few short years.
Skylar McKeith - Vice-Chair
Skylar McKeith is an experienced business immigration lawyer who specializes in advising corporations, entrepreneurs, and high-profile individuals on navigating the UK’s complex immigration system. She currently leads the immigration department at a prominent law firm, providing strategic guidance on global mobility, sponsor licensing, and talent acquisition. Skylar has lived and worked internationally, giving her unique insight into the challenges faced by expatriates and globally mobile professionals.
Skylar serves on the board of an international nonprofit, volunteers at a homeschool co-op, and has judged local events, such one of the Miss South Dakota local competitions. Skylar is a regular legal commentator on national and international TV networks. She also worked as a producer, reporter, and anchor in South Dakota, gaining valuable experience in media and public communication.
In her free time, she enjoys painting and spending time with her husband and two children.
Skylar is passionate about creating opportunities, championing community involvement, and bringing her international perspective and legal expertise to support meaningful initiatives.
Mikha Romero Slone - Young Lawyers Vice-Chair
Mikha Romero Slone is an attorney licensed to practice in Louisiana and Oklahoma. She earned her J.D. and Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. Mikha started her career as an associate attorney for the business and corporate practice group at Kean Miller LLP in Louisiana. Currently, Mikha resides in Oklahoma and works as an associate attorney at Gungoll, Jackson, Box & Devoll, P.C. Mikha is passionate about expanding the membership and involvement of young lawyers and law students in MSJDN. She is a proud wife of an active-duty U.S. Air Force pilot.
Accomplishments
The Membership Committee now oversees two new subcommittees: MSJDN's Law Student Committee and MSJDN's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
