Debbie Aston - Chair

The Membership Committee supports member-centered programs and does membership outreach and development, including overseeing the dues process and welcoming new members. Volunteers manage the awards, mentoring, and webinar programs, oversee the annual survey, and much more.

Debbie has been a member of MSJDN for several years becoming more actively involved in January 2020 when she began serving as MSJDN’s social media manager. Debbie is an associate counsel for the Board of Veterans’ Appeals in Washington, D.C. She earned her JD from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. Debbie grew up in an Air Force family and claims Hawaii as home. She presently resides in San Diego, CA with her active duty Navy spouse. Together they have three children.

Evelyn Guevara - Vice-Chair

Evelyn is a licensed attorney in New York and Arizona, and has been a member of MSJDN since 2010. She earned her B.S. in Finance from Penn State University, and earned her J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law. Thanks to the U.S. Army JAG Corps’ Military Spouse Attorney Program, she is currently employed as an attorney for the Office of Soldiers’ Counsel in San Antonio, TX. She is a proud mother of two girls and is proudly married to an Air Force JAG. She enjoys traveling, cooking, connecting with other MSJDN members and spending time with her family.

D. Norra Pe Benito - Young Lawyers Vice-Chair

D. Norra Pe Benito is an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois. Her practice areas include ERISA – employee benefits, QDROs, and government and military benefits. She began her legal career in Nashville, Tennessee where she served as paralegal for a private firm practicing insurance subrogation and contract breach litigation. Additionally, she served as the firm’s office manager to develop the firm’s standard operating procedures. Norra graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a major in political science and minor in finance. She received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. In 2019, she studied cross-cultural mediation and negotiations and Chinese legal systems for a semester at Zhejiang University Guanghua College of Law in Hangzhou, China. During law school, she focused her education on employment law, legal writing and research, and negotiation strategy and theory. She led her peers as President of the Women’s Law Association, President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society and served as Senior Editor of the Thomas Jefferson Law Review Journal. Norra currently resides in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia with her family and their 4-year old German Shepherd, Leia. She identifies as a Swiftie. She visited 15 national parks so far and plans to visit them all when her husband retires from the Navy in a few short years.
