Lourdes Fuentes

The Pro Bono Committee develops volunteer projects and promotes pro bono assistance for military families as well as volunteer opportunities for military spouse attorneys. They work to promote the development of the Justice for Military Families pro bono program, including the partnership with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. Volunteers are needed to work with intake, placement, and other special projects.

Lourdes M. Fuentes is an attorney admitted to practice in New York, Washington, D.C., and before the U.S. Supreme Court, with over 30 years of experience at the intersection of law, technology, and operations. A former law firm partner and CEO, she now leads Karta Legal, a legal tech consultancy recognized for advancing efficiency, innovation, and strategic AI adoption in legal practice. A certified mediator and seasoned executive coach, Lourdes specializes in guiding legal teams through complex change initiatives, process improvements, and legal operations transformations.
 
Lourdes has been honored by the ABA, New York Law Journal, and National Law Journal for her leadership in legal technology. She holds certifications in Generative AI, Change Management, Privacy, Project Management, and Lean Six Sigma. As founder of Hispanic Innovators of Legal Tech (HILT) and a member of the WBENC Certification Committee, Lourdes is deeply committed to championing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession and empowering underrepresented voices in tech-enabled legal services.

Suelly Correia - Vice-Chair

Suelly Correia is an experienced in-house attorney with a strong background in global commercial transactions and intellectual property licensing. She currently serves as Associate General Counsel at The Center for Leadership Studies, where she leads legal operations for the company. In addition to her corporate work, she volunteers as a pro bono attorney with Legal Aid of North Carolina, assisting survivors of domestic violence with immigration matters. A licensed attorney in both New York and Brazil, she holds an LL.M. from Duke University and is passionate about using the law to empower innovation and growth.
