MSJDN is excited to announce the return of Homefront Rising this month! In partnership with Veterans Campaign and the Atlantic Council, Homefront Rising will co-host the Women’s Symposium, two days of education and training for female military spouses and veterans interested in serving in office.
On June 17-18th in Washington, DC, attendees will learn about the opportunities and challenges specific to military spouses and veterans pursuing civic and political leadership, how to lay the groundwork for future success, as well as the skills necessary to win. Leading political professionals, activists, academic researchers, and distinguished public servants will be on hand for panels and breakout sessions designed to prepare attendees to return to their communities to serve in office. Tuition of $250 includes registration fees, meals, a ticket to the Friday night reception, and program materials, including a copy of The Candidate’s Field Manual from Veterans Campaign. MSJDN members can receive a discount of 20% by using code “HomefrontRising” when registering.
Thanks to the generous support of sponsors, we are also pleased to offer a tuition bundle for participation in both the June 17-18 Women’s Symposium and the Veterans Campaign signature campaign workshop on July 9-10 for only $495. Click here for more details on the July training.
Homefront Rising is a non-partisan initiative founded by Mary Reding Smith, Lauren Wittenberg Weiner, and Donna Hunneycutt that encourages and trains military spouses to speak up and get involved in the political process though serving in public office and positions of influence.
At the heart of Homefront Rising’s mission is the desire to empower members of the military community to make positive change for military families. Military spouses have become adept at calling on Congress and our elected officials to demand that they meet the needs of those who serve. But we also need members of our own community among the elected officials making decisions that affect it. Homefront Rising aims to change the conversation from “call your representative” to having military spouses be the representatives! The training empowers military spouses to take the skills learned from supporting the homefront to Capitol Hill, school boards, city halls, and state houses across this country.
Limited seating is available for the Women’s Symposium. Click here to register now and save your spot for this in-depth training on public service.
